LANCASTER, Pa. — Penn State Extension will hold its Arborist Short Course, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Thursdays, Jan. 3-24, at Lancaster Farm and Home Center, 1383 Arcadia Road, Lancaster.
The course is designed to prepare participants for the International Society of Arboriculture’s certified arborist exam.
Topics will include diagnosis of plant diseases and insect pests, nutrition and fertilization, selection, installation and establishment of trees and shrubs, soil and water interaction and management, plant identification, assessment and risk management, pruning, construction impacts and management, and safety and climbing.
For $275 ($265 if registered early), participants receive the ISA Arborists’ Certification Study Guide ($115 retail value), other printed materials, and all meals and breaks.
