Master Well Owner Course Set for March 16

2/9/2013 7:00 AM

In 2004, Penn State Extension and several partner agencies created the Master Well Owner Network — a group of trained volunteers who promote the proper construction, testing and maintenance of private water wells, springs and cisterns.

Since its inception, nearly 600 volunteers have attended Saturday training workshops to be certified as Penn State Master Well Owners.

The next training course will be 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Saturday, March 16, at the York County office of Penn State Extension, 112 Pleasant Acres Road, York, Pa.

Prospective volunteers need to submit an application and be accepted into the program. The workshop will be limited to the first 30 accepted applicants.

To be eligible, volunteers must not have any financial interest in private water well drillers, testing labs, treatment companies, etc., and they must be willing to share what they learn with their neighbors, friends and co-workers.

For more information and an application, visit the or call Diane Oleson at 717-840-7408.
