Weed, Pest Tours Set for Landisville, Rock Springs

The Annual Twilight Weed Tour at the Southeast Research and Extension Center in Landisville, Pa., will be 4:30-7 p.m. Thursday, June 26, following the “Farming for Success” Field Day there.

The tour will examine corn and soybean weed control trials, including competitive products comparisons.

The annual Rock Springs Agronomic Weed and Insect Tour will be held 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, at the Penn State Agronomy Research Farm in Rock Springs, Pa.

A number of weed control experiments will be showcased, including new soybean technologies from Dow (Enlist — 2,4-D tolerance), Monsanto (Roundup Ready 2 Yield Xtend — dicamba tolerance) and Bayer CropScience (HPPD — Balance tolerance) as well as a number of other trials.

Pest management CCA CEUs and pesticide recertification credits will be available for both tours. Cost is $20 for either event, which will include a tour book and hot meal after the tour.
