Feeder Cattle Auction Report Mid-Session and Close for 03/25/2015
Receipts: 1651 Last Week: 3505 Year Ago: 1454
Compared to last week, steer calves under 550 lbs sold firm to instances
10.00 higher on a light test, feeder steers weighing 550-850 lbs traded 3.00-
6.00 higher. Feeder heifers under 500 lbs sold with a firm undertone on a light
test, with 500-750 lb heifers selling 3.00-5.00 higher. Wednesday's offering
included several strings, part loads and lots of top quality fancy black
yearling steers weighing mostly 650-825 lbs selling with very good demand.
Prices for the string of 828 lb steers have not been reached since the end of
November to the first week of December 2014 at the St. Joseph Stockyards.
Several lots and packages of steer and heifer calves going to grass selling with
good weighing conditions and longtime weaned. Supply included 51 percent
steers, 49 percent heifers and near 60 percent weighing over 600 lbs.
