Feeder Cattle Auction Report Mid-Session and Close for 02/25/2015
Receipts: 2293 Last Week: 2090 Year Ago: 1669
Compared to last week, steer calves weighing 500-550 lbs sold 2.00-7.00
higher, with 550-750 steers trading mostly steady, 750-800 lbs sold steady to
5.00 lower, and yearling steers over 800 lbs sold mostly 3.00-5.00 lower on
comparable sales. Heifer calves under 500 lbs were lightly tested, 500-600
heifer calves sold firm to 5.00 higher with spots 7.00 higher, 600-650 lbs
traded steady, with 650-700 lbs selling weak to 5.00 lower, and 700-800 lbs
mostly steady. Demand was very good for 500-550 lb steers and 5 weight heifers,
with the bulk of the receipts weighing from 550-850 lbs. Yearlings (mostly
steers) weighing over 800 lbs sold with moderate to very fleshy conditions.
Supply included 54 percent steers, 46 percent heifers, and 65 percent feeders
weighing over 600 lbs.
