CATTLE
Direct Trade:
In the direct slaughter cattle trade in the Five Major Marketing Areas,
Texas/Oklahoma; Kansas; Nebraska; Colorado; Iowa/Minnesota; Thus far for
Tuesday, negotiated cash trade was at a standstill in the Southern and Northern
Plains with very limited trade on light demand in the Western Cornbelt. Not
enough sales in any feeding region for an adequate market test. The latest
established market was last week with live sales at 122.00 in the Southern
Plains. In Nebraska last week, live sales traded from 123.00-124.00 with dressed
sales mostly at 197.00. Last week in Colorado, live sales traded from 122.50-
123.00. In the Western Cornbelt for the previous week, live sales traded from
123.00-125.00 with dressed sales from 196.00-197.00.
Steers: Live Basis: (all grades N/A head) N/A, weighted average
N/A. Dressed Basis; (all grades 750 head) 193.50, weighted average
193.50.

Compared to last week: Feeder steers and heifers 1.00-3.00 higher.
Demand good for feeder cattle. Steer and heifer calves lightly tested
and very uneven. Fleshy un-weaned calves selling to limited demand.
Demand moderate to good for weaned calves. Summer has finally arrived
in the state and temps are expected to be in mid to upper 90's. Central
Oklahoma wheat harvest should by underway by the weekend. Quality
mostly average. Supply once again includes several heavy weight feeder
cattle.

inch back fat and 6 inch square loin/2.0 inch depth plant delivered. National
direct trade barrows and gilts 2.10 higher at 85.00-104.00, weighted average
price 97.80.
Live Basis (240-280 lbs.): National direct trade barrows and gilts .62
lower at 65.91-78.00, weighted average price 73.75.

Sheep and Lambs: When compared to last week, slaughter lambs
sold mostly 20.00-40.00 higher. Slaughter ewes traded firm.
Demand was good for all classes. Slaughter supply consisted of
82 percent lambs, 14 percent slaughter ewes, and 4 percent
miscellaneous stock. All sheep and lambs are destined for
non-traditional markets. All sheep and lambs are sold by the
hundred weight,on actual weights.
