Sioux Falls, SD Fri Jan 23, 2015 USDA-SD Dept of Ag Market New
South and North Dakota Direct Feeder Cattle
Feeder Cattle Weighted Average Report for 01/23/2015
Receipts: 2,910 Last Week: 0 Last Year: 220
Compared to last week: No recent comparable sales on feeder steers or
heifers, but a lower undertone was noted. Continued volatility in the CME
Feeder Cattle and Live cattle contracts has caused uncertainty in auction barns
and cattle traded in the country this week. Additionally, fat cattle have
traded 5.00 lower this week which has contributed to lower feeder cattle prices.
Supply consisted of 100 percent over 600 lbs and 47 percent heifers. All sales
FOB North and South Dakota with a 2-3 percent shrink or equivalent and a 4-8
cent slide on yearlings and a 8-12 slide on calves from base weights.
