When I was a kid, Friday was always “pizza day” in school, but nothing topped french bread pizza day. Kids who typically packed a lunch opted to wait in the “hot lunch” line. Why we never made this at home besides getting the frozen french bread pizza at the store is beyond me. It’s really easy to do.
My 7-year-old has developed an interest in helping in the kitchen. I am always on the lookout for easy recipes that allow him to help out and have fun. This is a pretty straightforward recipe. Be creative, have fun and enjoy!
Here’s what you need:
A loaf of french bread, sliced in half
A jar of pizza sauce
And any of your pizza topping “must haves” – pepperoni, pineapple and ham; mushrooms, etc.
Preheat the oven to 500 degrees. Cut the bread in half, lengthwise, put the halves on a cookie sheet, open faced, spread ¼ of the jar of pizza sauce on each side. Put on the toppings, finishing with cheese. Bake 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and slightly browned. Enjoy!
