KAUFFMAN, Pa. — Danae Oliver, 18, of State Line, was crowned the 2012-2013 Franklin County Dairy Princess on Friday, May 11, during the 45th annual pageant held at the Kauffman Ruritan Community Center, Kauffman, Pa.

The daughter of Steve and Shelby Oliver, Danae will graduate from Greencastle-Antrim High School next month. She will be promoting Franklin County’s dairy industry for the coming year.

Also assisting with the promotional activities will be a group of dairy misses and dairy ambassadors: Katelyn Baer, Rebecca Benedict, Grace Crider, Ashley Dice, Lucy Crider, Amanda Hege, Maggie Keller and Jaicee Keller.

During her skit presentation designed for school-aged children, Oliver assumed the character of the “Dairy Fairy,” sister of the “Tooth Fairy.” In costume, complete with wings, Oliver read a rhyming storybook, “Where Does Milk Come From.” In her speech, “The Care and Making of Happy Cows,” Oliver argued her case that cows are happy anywhere, not just in California.

The new princess was crowned by 2011-2012 Dairy Princess Renee Grove.

Franklin County Commissioner Robert Thomas served as the master of ceremonies at the event.

Oliver will be an animal science major at Penn State University this fall. She plans to attend veterinary school and become a large animal veterinarian.
