My boys have started to develop a “fashion” sense, and it’s camouflage. They love the print, and whenever there’s a chance to wear it, they will. As you would expect, my 4- and 7- year-old boys are not that fashion forward. But for this one fall season, they are in complete style.
According to a recent story published on LancasterOnline, Duck Dynasty, the reality show based on the adventures of the Robertson family in Louisiana, is influencing fashion trends. A record 11.8 million viewers tuned in to the reality show's recent season premiere.
Check out the fashion magazines. Camouflage is labeled the “hot” seasonal trend, and tips are being provided on how to rock an outfit with a camo pattern. And "Duck Dynasty" apparel has cropped up everywhere from high-end athletic outfitter Under Armour to hat racks in the local convenience store.
Roberts Rassi, also a style consultant for Boden, described in an Associated Press report how kids can wear it stylishly, including an “almost cartoon-color version.”
Although I find all of this love for camo funny, the only time I ever wear it is when heading out to the woods for hunting.
For the boys, it is a great pattern. Camo prints hide dirt. It goes with about any shirt they want to wear. And besides making them happy, it makes the morning clothing selection process so much easier.
The next thing they'll want is camo caps. At the next show I attend, I might have to buy some Lancaster Farming subscriptions to get two Farming cammo caps, because you can’t just buy one to share.
