When it comes to shooting video and creating a viral phenomenon, it is highly unlikely I will garner my 15 minutes of fame that way. But those who can imaginatively create a positive message for dairy always impress me.
Ever since social media has gone mainstream, dairy producers have been challenged to utilize these tools to show the world their farms. Why? Because if you look at how many people are “wired” today, social media drives the discussion. Statistics show that more than 250 million people view items on YouTube and social networks. So, as the experts will note, there is power in social networking.
A video gem by one online “agvocate” was brought up at the AgChat Conference. The video is called “Where Them Cows At.” Produced as a music video, the clip shows a California dairyman bragging about his cows or “ladies.” (To see the video click here: http://vimeo.com/25964011)
Is the video silly? You bet. But, to its credit, it provides plenty of views of what his dairy farm looks like – complete with big tractors, farm equipment and, of course, the farm truck and his Holstein cattle or “ladies.”
Take a look, let me know what you think. Or if you have created a video or have another dairy video you like, send it my way.
