Some groups are trying to push legislation through Congress to define milk as a product that comes from a cow or other milk-producing animal. The idea is to separate dairy products from soy and plant-based “milk” substitutes.
The California Milk Processor Board opted for a humorous approach to support the measure. The board’s message is: “Imitation milk comes from nuts and beans and lots of curious-sounding ingredients. Oh, and science. Imitation milk comes from science. But milk — milk is milk.”
Here is a sampling of two commercials the board has created to strengthen its point.
