New Centre Co. Dairy Princess Crowned

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — Heather Wasson, of State College, Pa., was crowned the 2012-2013 Centre County dairy princess on Saturday, May 19, by the outgoing dairy princess, Tanna Shirk.

Heather is the daughter of Ronald and Candace Wasson. She has been a part of the Centre County dairy promotion team for 11 years. Heather grew up and works on her family’s fifth-generation dairy farm. She will be a junior in the fall at State College Area High School.

Also joining Heather this year on the promotion team are two alternates, Halee Wasson and Terren Lesher.

Halee Wasson is Heather’s identical twin sister. Terren Lesher is joining the promotion team for her first experience being involved in the program. She is the daughter of Eric and Lisa Lesher of Pennsylvania Furnace, Pa., and will be a junior at State College Area High School in the fall.

The contestants were judged on a skit/creative presentation, a speech for an adult audience, an interview with the judges and an impromptu question. Each girl was required to design a poster representing at least one of the 10 key messages of the dairy industry.

Serving on the court will be Dairy Maids Rebaccah Harter, daughter of Tony and Saprina Harter of Bellefonte, Pa., and Carly Gilliland, daughter of Gary and Holly Gilliland of Boalsburg, Pa. New dairy misses are Gretchen Little, daughter of Kris and Karen Little of Zion, Pa., and Li’l Dairy Miss Jordan Anderson, daughter of Don and Angela Anderson of Centre Hall.
