Penn State Extension’s grain marketing discussion groups are planning a number of casual meetings this month to look at markets, trends, cost-of-production calculations and what all the so-called experts are saying about future changes in grain prices.
This is the time of year to figure out what to do with the 2013 harvest, and the meetings can be helpful in managing price risk.
Once harvest is completed, the groups meet monthly until spring season. The next meetings are:
Carlisle Grain Marketing Discussion Group — 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, Hoss's Restaurant, Route 11, Carlisle, Pa.
Central Susquehanna Grain Marketing Club — 7 a.m. Monday, Aug. 19, Penn 80 Truck Stop along I-80, Milton/Limestoneville, Pa. (exit 215).
Christiana Grain Marketing Discussion Group — 6 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 20, Dutch Way Restaurant, Route 41, Christiana, Pa.
Manheim Grain Marketing Discussion Group — 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, Manheim Grill, Route 72, Manheim, Pa.
Lehigh Valley Grain Marketing Club — 7 p.m. on the second Tuesday of most months, Lehigh County Ag Center, Allentown, Pa.
