6/14/2014 7:00 AM

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State’s Extension Dairy Team is working with the Maryland and Virginia Milk Producers Cooperative Association to provide a program on using precision technologies for maximum efficiency on dairy farms.

The one-day Precision Dairy Technology Forum Summer Tour will be held 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 9 at 811 Piney Creek Road, Martinsburg, Pa.

With increasing competition and shrinking margins, new technology can save labor costs, improve animal performance and open opportunities for more effective herd management.

Topics will include cow cooling and ventilation, solar energy options for dairy farms, working with Hispanic labor and cow bedding along with a facilities tour.

Registration is free, but must be done by July 2 by visiting or calling 888-373-7232.
