HARRISBURG, Pa. — The Center for Dairy Excellence is offering nine scholarships for dairy producers and dairy farm employees to attend the Women in Dairy 2012 Conference coordinated by the Penn State Extension Dairy Team.
The conference is being held 9 a.m.-3:15 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, at the Best Western Premier Hotel and Conference Center in Harrisburg. The scholarship will cover the entire registration fee to attend.
“This is a unique opportunity for dairy women to come together to learn new skills and strategies to bring back to their dairy farm businesses and professional occupations,” said Jayne Sebright, communications director for the center. “We are excited to be a supporter of the event, and we are looking forward to having dairy farm owners, managers and employees participate in it.”
The keynote speaker for the conference is Barbara Martin, co-owner of Dairy Goddess Cheese and Milk and the writer of the popular “A Dairy Goddess’s Blog.” She will share her views on the “creation of a goddess.”
Other sessions include Tight Finances, Tight Times; Pins, Needles, Residues and Calf Care; Who Is Telling Our Story; Communicating Across the Generation; and Re-entering the Workforce.
The scholarship from the center covers the full cost of registering for both the conference and pre-conference activities. Any hotel or traveling costs are not included in the scholarship and will be at the producer’s expense.
More details about the conference itself and hotel accommodations are available at http://extension.psu.edu/animals/dairy/education/women-in-dairy-2012-conference.
The nine scholarships will be given on a first-come, first-serve basis to any Pennsylvania-based dairy producer or dairy farm employee.
