SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) — Cheerleading is returning to the Illinois State Fair.
The State Fair Cheer Classic will be back this summer after a hiatus of several years It'll be held in Happy Hollow Aug. 17, with a rain date the next day.
Elementary and "tiny" levels to high school varsity and "senior" levels will compete in school, all-star, and specialty divisions.
The specialty competition will have seven categories, including "stunt routine" and "tumbling challenge."
Each team must submit a $100 non-refundable deposit by July 15. The entry is $30 per cheerleader, including fair admission.
Grand champions will receive banners for all levels of team divisions. Trophies will go to the top three teams as well as competitors in the specialty division. All participants will receive a medal.
