FRANKLIN, Va. (AP) — A dormant paper mill in Isle of Wight County will stir back to life this year, creating 72 jobs.

Gov. Bob McDonnell said Thursday the former International Paper Franklin Sawmill has been purchased by Franklin Lumber. Created by former employees of the IP mill, the reopening will occur later this year.

McDonnell's office said the new owners plan to invest nearly $15 million in the plant over the next five years to increase capacity, and possibly create more jobs.

The old mill closed several years ago, leaving more than 1,000 people out of jobs.
