SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) — A nationally known horse trainer who managed shows at the Illinois State Fair for decades will be remembered in a ceremony Sunday.

Wilbur "Webb" Parlier of Arenzville died in May at the age of 76.

In his trademark cowboy hat and boots, Parlier competed in rodeos, riding bulls and broncos. His specialty, though, was teaching children to ride.

He will be honored at the Illinois State Fairgrounds during Sunday's Western Horse Show, which he managed for years.

State Fair Manager Amy Bliefnick says Parlier "had a heart of gold, was a true cowboy" and would "lend a hand wherever needed."
