LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — The Kentucky Farm Bureau has chosen two finalists for 2012 Farmer of the Year, and the winner will be announced next month.
The finalists are Stephen Bailey of Mercer County and Scott Travis of Spencer County.
Bailey has been farming for 38 years and raises cattle, corn, soybeans, alfalfa, mixed hay and wheat. Travis is a 27-year veteran of farming and raises cattle, tobacco, corn, soybeans, wheat, hay, pumpkins and gourds.
The Farmer of the Year will be announced at the Kentucky Farm Bureau's 2012 state annual meeting Dec. 7 in Louisville. The winner will receive $1,000 from the Kentucky Farm Bureau Federation and will represent Kentucky in regional competition next fall in Georgia.
