RACE TO HARVEST: Soybean prices fell as a fast-paced harvest delivers more supplies to the marketplace. Yields are better than expected and overall demand remains strong. The corn harvest also is progressing quickly.

EYES ON SPAIN: Other commodities were mixed after Spain's prime minister said a request for bailout funding isn't imminent. Spain is under pressure to seek financial assistance to help lower its borrowing costs, but its leaders are concerned about the impact of cost-cutting measures.

WINNERS, LOSERS: Prices rose for copper, natural gas and corn. Oil, gold, silver and wheat are lower.
