PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — A crowd in Portland estimated at 2,000 to 3,000 joined others around the world to protest genetically modified foods.
The Portland crowd walked and listened to speakers Saturday around the Lloyd Center. The Oregonian (http://bit.ly/158jFz8) reports other Oregon protests took place in Eugene, Medford, Grants Pass, Bend, Baker City, Prineville, Redmond and Coos Bay.
The gatherings followed a resolution by Congress that overrides court rulings against genetically modified crops.
Organizers say about 2 million people took part in U.S. rallies and protests in 50 other countries.
