Walker named interim dean of cooperative extension

RENO, Nev. (AP) — A veteran resource specialist has been named interim dean of the Nevada Cooperative Extension.

University of Nevada, Reno officials announced the appointment of Mark Walker on Tuesday.

Walker has served 23 years as extension specialist, including 13 years as a water quality specialist.

His two-year appointment began July 1.

Most recently Walker served as chair of the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences for the College of Agriculture, Biotechnology and Natural Resources.

Much of his research has been conducted through the University of Nevada Agricultural Experiment Station and focused on the protection of public drinking water.
