In my house, we celebrate dairy month every day. First, all we have to do is walk out our front door to be reminded of the farm and the cows. Second, we love dairy recipes. I have collected them from our annual June Dairy Month Recipe contest – I have some of the best meal ideas.
My favorite is a chocolate chip dip submitted by a reader a few years ago. Family traditions – milk at dinner, cheese on pretty much any main dish that it works with, and the kids really like “taco night.” Plus, I have picked up a few ideas from fellow dairy farmers and dairy princesses through the years. I have a couple of milk punches that are traditional “go-tos” for family gatherings.
No matter how you celebrate Dairy Month – from milking the cows, feeding the cows, tending to the fieldwork or adding dairy to your family meal – have a great Dairy Month!
For a change of pace from traditional milk punches, I really enjoy this idea from the Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association.
“Cow”puccino Milk Punch

1/2 gallon 1% lowfat milk
1 bottle (2 liters) cream soda (use diet for a lighter version)
1/2 gallon light chocolate ice cream
1/2 gallon light coffee ice cream
