Md. Dairy Princess Diary: Fair Season Fun

Hello everyone, since being crowned Maryland Dairy Princess in July, it has been a very busy summer. I have attended many county fairs, dairy cattle shows and dairy events. I really enjoyed seeing all the quality dairy cattle across our wonderful state.

My favorite event so far has been attending supreme champion selection at The Great Frederick Fair. Frederick County is the largest dairy-producing county in the state of Maryland that houses more than 12,000 dairy cattle. At the show, I, along with other state and county royalty, escorted the cattle into their classes to be presented to the judge. It was a great experience because I got to meet other young people that are as passionate about the dairy industry as I am.

I encourage all of you to get your 3-Every-Day of dairy to keep your bodies strong and healthy by trying this delicious dairy recipe.
Fruity Yogurt Sipper
1 ripe large banana, 2 medium peaches, or 1 cup sliced strawberries
1 ½ cups milk
1 8-ounce carton vanilla yogurt
1 to 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
3 or 4 large ice cubes
If using banana or peaches, cut into chunks. In a large blender container combine fruit, milk, yogurt, and sugar. Cover and blend until smooth. With blender running, add ice cubes, one at a time, through opening in a lid. Blend until smooth. Makes 4 (about 8 ounce) servings.
