Dairy Princess Crowned at SUN Area Ag Dairy Days

SELINSGROVE, Pa. — The SUN Area Dairy Promotion Committee has selected its new dairy promotion team, including newly crowned 2014-2015 Dairy Princess Lacey Smith.

The team was announced at the SUN Area Ag Dairy Days during the Middlecreek Valley Antique Association Spring Show, in Selinsgrove, Pa., May 16-18.

During the event on May 17, 2013-2014 SUN Area Dairy Princess Ashley Wetzel crowned the new 2014-2015 SUN Area Dairy Princess Lacey Smith. Smith is the 19-year-old daughter of Allen and Tammy Smith, Mifflinburg, Pa. She is a 2012 graduate of Mifflinburg Area High School where she was active in her FFA chapter. Smith does not live on a dairy farm but has family who are dairy farmers and is also active in showing livestock at the Union County West End Fair. Smith was the 2012 Miss Union County West End Fair queen and she enjoys reading, writing and baking. Smith works at Texas Roadhouse, Selinsgrove.

The 2014-2015 SUN Area dairy maid is Abbigail Doak, the 13-year-old daughter of Samuel IV and Julie Doak, Beavertown, Pa. Abbigail’s family operates Redview Farm where they milk 25 cows. She is very active in Snyder County 4-H. Abbigail will be a seventh-grade student at the School Connections Academy. She is also the proud owner of 16 dairy animals.

The 2014-2015 SUN Area dairy misses are Tabitha Hauck and Paige Rhyne.

Tabitha is the 11-year-old daughter of Ronnie Jr. and Larissa Hauck, Winfield, Pa. Tabitha will be a seventh-grade student at Selinsgrove Area Middle School. She owns three registered Holstein heifers and also lives on her grandparents’ dairy farm where they raise dairy heifers. She also enjoys pulling her garden tractor.

Paige is the 11-year-old daughter of Darren and Tammy Rhyne, Mifflinburg, Pa. She will be a fifth-grade student at Mifflinburg Area Intermediate School. Paige owns two dairy cows and lots of goats. She is active in Union County 4-H and Girl Scouts.

The 2013-2014 SUN Area dairy promotion team completed 211 school promotions, 90 media promotions, 49 booth promotions, 40 non-dairy meetings, eight dairy meetings, 26 special events, four state events and has traveled 8,202 miles.
