TIMONIUM, Md. — Supreme champions of the Maryland State Fair 4-H dairy show were selected in the Cow Palace Monday, Sept. 3. Winners were selected from junior, senior and best bred and owned champions from each breed.
The supreme champion senior animal of the 4-H show was exhibited by Patrick Youse of Ridgely. His senior 3-year-old Jersey, Milo Centurion Sassafrass, was deemed the best entry in the show.
The supreme junior champion and best bred and owned junior animal was the Red and White Holstein exhibited by Trinity Miller of Westminster, Pheasant-Echos RE Diego-Red, a fall calf.
Katelyn Allen of Jefferson was the best bred and owned senior animal honoree. Her senior 2-year-old Holstein, Glen-Toctin Sanchez Dara, was the winning entry.
The winners were chosen from among numerous winners exhibited by 4-H’ers from across the state.
Garnet-Lane Avenger Poinsettia, a senior 2-year-old exhibited by Cassandra Plummer of Galena, was named senior and grand champion of the 4-H Ayrshire show, as well as best bred and owned senior-aged animal. Vales-Pride Dozer Garnet, a milking yearling exhibited by Britt Olson of Keymar, was named the reserve senior and reserve grand champion. Devin Murray of Woodbine exhibited the total performance winner, 4-year-old Maple Dell Trident Dee-ET.
Cadin Valentine of Thurmont exhibited the junior champion of the Ayrshire show, fall calf Vales-Pride Poker Emily. She was also the junior best bred and owned animal. Woodbine’s Alexis Winkler had the reserve junior champion winner, Maple Dell Poker Daisy-ET, a winter calf.
In the Brown Swiss ring, Joshua Hubbard of Thurmont exhibited the senior and grand champion winner, junior 3-year-old Dublin-Hills Sundown-Twin. She was also the total performance winner. DeBaugh Zeus CoCo was the reserve senior champion, reserve grand champion and senior best bred and owned winner for Cory DeBaugh of Boonsboro.
Nichelle Upton of Thurmont was the junior champion and junior best bred and owned honoree with her spring yearling, Dublin-Hills Sassy-ET. The entry of Mount Airy’s Alex Beard, spring calf Dublin-Hills Pristina, was the winner of the reserve junior champion award in the Brown Swiss Show.
Henry Myers of Worton exhibited the senior and grand champion and the reserve senior and reserve grand champion Guernsey. Topping the show was Pine Grove YB Mince, a senior 2-year-old. Reserve honors went to White Hall Neon Paige, a senior 3-year-old.
Madison Spurrier of Swanton exhibited both the junior and reserve junior champion of the 4-H Guernsey show. Spring yearling Mar Shirl Yogibears Hershey was the junior champion, while winter calf Mar Shirl Jackpots Hot Sauce was the reserve winner. The bred and owned winner of the Guernsey show was Lagracarmel Grumpy Fifi, a winter calf exhibited by Tessie Weant of Taneytown.
Coldsprings Outside 2789, the winning 4-year-old Holstein entry by Courtney Hoff of New Windsor, was the senior and grand champion and total performance winner of the show. Brent Zimmerman of Littlestown, Pa., exhibited the reserve senior and reserve grand champion. His junior 2-year-old, Ronbeth HD Damion Dancer, was the honoree. The best bred and owned senior animal award went to senior 2-year-old Glen-Toctin Sanchez Dara, exhibited by Katelyn Allen of Jefferson.
Winning junior champion honors in the Holstein show was Julia Smith of Marydel with her fall calf, Mar-Del-View A Elizabeth. The second-place fall calf exhibited by Eric Smith of Sudlersville was named reserve junior champion and champion junior best bred and owned. The winning entry was Mar-Del-View Axe Lauren.
Senior and grand champion honors in the Jersey show went to Milo Centurion Sassafras-ET, a senior 3-year-old exhibited by Patrick Youse. The reserve senior and reserve grand champion of the show was exhibited by Jessica Sentelle of Jefferson. The winning entry was 4-year-old Stoney Point Justice Fae-ET. Taking the senior best bred and owned title was Md-Delight OCS Brook-lyn, the second-place 4-year-old who was also awarded the total performance award.
Hillacres Golden Audrey, a fall calf exhibited by Rachel Zane of Middletown, Del., was named junior champion of the Jersey show. Patrick Youse exhibited the reserve junior champion and junior best bred and owned animal of the show, winter yearling Saybrook Minister Sawyer.
Jamie Arbaugh of Union Bridge swept the 4-H Milking Shorthorn show, capturing the senior and grand champion, reserve senior and reserve grand champion, junior and reserve junior champion, junior best bred and owned and total performance winner titles.
Senior 2-year-old Hardcore Moonshine Special was named senior and grand champion, while senior 3-year-old Arb-Flo-Spr MRB Halie-ET was the reserve senior and reserve grand champion and total performance winner. The senior best bred and owned animal was exhibited by Shelby Hahn of Sabillasville, Windswept Farm Sam Allie Ann, a junior 2-year-old.
Junior champion and junior best bred and owned honors went to Arb-Flo-Spr Prince Creation-ET, a spring calf. Reserve junior champion was fall yearling Arb-Flo-Spr Haven Billow-EXP.
Greenlea-TM Real AB-Red-ET, a senior 2-year-old exhibited by Cassidy Schirmer of Galena, was named senior and grand champion of the Red and White Holstein show. Reserve champion honors went to Carol DeBaugh of Boonsboro for her junior 2-year-old, DeBaugh Talent Apple-Red.
Junior champion and junior best bred and owned honors went to Trinity Miller of Westminster for her fall calf entry, Pheasant-Echos RE Diego-Red. Patrick Youse exhibited the reserve junior champion of the show, Arsenal Cntndr Dizzy-Red-ET, a fall yearling.
