Ray T. Bohacz is the founder and owner of the Farm Machinery Digest and Idle Chatter family of podcasts.
Bohacz’s background includes over three thousand published machinery or engine-related technical articles. He is also the author of three technical books, has delivered seminars and workshops to the automotive and agricultural industries, and has been on national television nearly 100 times.
Bohacz is a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers, the American Society of Materials and the Farm Bureau.
He also farms fresh-market sweet corn and operates on land that his family has owned since 1954 in Warren County, New Jersey.
Bohacz has been coined "the Hot Rod Farmer" because of his many years building drag race engines.
He promotes the motto: Agriculture runs on machinery, but profits depend on the reliability of the equipment employed.
A weekly show, Idle Chatter, and the short Hot Rod Farmer Minute podcasts allow people to be exposed to no-cost educational content delivered in an engaging format.
Another short podcast, Bushels & Cents, establishes how poor decisions regarding machinery often get lost in the bookkeeping — but not in the bottom line. These one-minute segments bring that deficit to light. They reference an avoidable machinery issue in crop yield — bushels of corn.
Having an interest in those passionate about cars or farming, he recently started a podcast called "On the Road with Ray Bohacz... the Hot Rod Farmer". This series is a conversation, not an interview, and is a human-interest treasure trove.
Currently, Bohacz’s podcasts have listeners in 67 countries around the world.
His new show, Farm Machinery Digest Radio, can be heard on Sirius/XM Channel 147, Rural Radio. This half-hour show airs every Saturday at 11 a.m. EST with an encore Sunday, at 6 p.m. EST.
The Farm Machinery Digest website is meant to supplement the podcasts and radio show. It can be considered an electronic and free magazine. There are over 100 technical articles, farmer-focused road tests of vehicles, a blog titled Flags Across the Harvest, not to mention a Toolbox Test, videos, and more.
Being a longtime subscriber to Lancaster Farming, Bohacz is anxious to connect with and support this community.
