David Wise, who manages the watershed restoration group for the Stroud Water Research Center, was honored with the Watershed Forestry Leadership Award March 10 during the Riparian Forest Buffer Summit sponsored by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.

Cindy Adams Dunn, the state conservation and natural resources secretary, presented the award.

Dunn said Wise is a pioneer in buffer work, and a contributor to countless working groups, committees and teams focused on increasing buffer implementation.

She added that Wise has contributed significantly to common techniques and innovations in buffers, and is receptive to all ideas presented both by people new to buffers and by seasoned professionals.

“David Wise firmly believes and consistently demonstrates that our work on buffers is better together,” Dunn said.
