Lancaster Weekly Cattle Summary for week ending Friday, June 24, 2016.

CATTLE: 2782; Last week 1939; Last year 2977. CALVES: 1674; Last week 1545; Last year 1853.

This week in Lancaster County, Slaughter steers sold mostly 2.00-5.00 lower. Slaughter Holstein steers sold mostly 2.00-4.00 lower on another light test this week. Slaughter heifers were quoted as firm on a very light test. Slaughter cows sold mostly steady to 3.00 lower for the week. Slaughter bulls sold mostly steady to 3.00 lower. There is not a Feeder Cattle sale this week. Holstein bull calves sold higher early in the week from steady to 40.00 higher. Thursday they were 20.00-40.00 lower. Holstein heifer calves sold mixed from 40.00 lower to 30.00 higher on another light test. Holstein replacement cows sold mostly steady to 100.00 higher compared to a very light test. Replacement bred and open heifers sold mostly steady to 50.00 higher compared to a very light test. Bulls not tested last week so no comparison this week. Demand was moderate for all classes. All cattle are sold per cwt.

 SLAUGHTER STEERS: HIGH CHOICE/PRIME 3-4: 1200-1600 lbs 118.00- 122.50; CHOICE 2-3: 1200-1600 lbs 116.00-121.50; SELECT 1-2: 1200-1600 lbs 112.00-117.00; HIGH DRESSING LEAN STEERS: 1100-1700 lbs 117.00-124.00, individual 127.00.  

SLAUGHTER HOLSTEINS: CHOICE 2-3: 1300-1750 lbs 107.00-113.50; SELECT 1-2: 1300-1750 lbs 99.00-105.00.

SLAUGHTER HEIFERS: HIGH CHOICE/PRIME 3-4: 1100-1300 lbs 117.50- 120.50; CHOICE 2-3: 1200 lbs individual 112.00; SELECT 1-2: 1050-1300 lbs 101.00-109.00.
