CATTLE: 2729; Last week 2782; Last year 1864. CALVES: 1825; Last week 1674; Last year 1879.

This week in Lancaster County, Slaughter steers sold mixed from 5.00 lower to 4.00 higher. Slaughter Holstein steers sold mostly 1.00-2.00 lower on another light test this week. Slaughter heifers not quoted this week. Slaughter cows sold mostly steady to 4.00 lower for the week. Slaughter bulls sold mostly steady to 4.00 lower. Demand was moderate for cows this week. There is not a Feeder Cattle sale this week. Holstein bull calves sold 40.00-100.00 lower. Holstein heifer calves sold 15.00-40.00 lower. Holstein replacement cows sold mostly steady. Overall cow quality not as good as last week. Replacement bred and open heifers sold mostly 50.00 higher. Not enough comparable weight Bulls for a market test. Demand was moderate for all classes. All cattle are sold per cwt with the exception of dairy replacement cattle which are sold by the head.
