Competitors and fans are hoping for a fair-weather weekend as the U.S.’ top Olympic contenders head for the New Jersey Fresh International Three-Day Event Wednesday, May 11 through Sunday May 15.
But rain or shine the CCI and CIC 2- and 3-star event is expected to produce exciting performances at its traditional grounds at the Horse Park of New Jersey in Allentown.
This year, Jersey Fresh is also introducing an advanced division. Competitors in all divisions can expect a world-class cross-country course designed by Olympian John Williams to test Rio Games aspirants under the critical eye of the U.S. team selectors.
For fans who watched the live video of the rain-sodden Rolex Kentucky International last month, they’ll be able to see in person many of those top riders and horses this weekend in New Jersey. Names like Buck Davidson (last year’s Jersey Fresh winner), Lauren Kiefer, who placed second at Rolex, and the former Australian (now American) Olympians, Phillip Dutton and Boyd Martin, will be there, among many other top competitors.
Check online for ticket details and the schedule. Dressage is on Thursday and Friday, cross country on Saturday and stadium jumping on Sunday.
