The Center for Dairy Excellence will host two calls next week about dairy risk management.

A dairy industry conference call will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 21.

Speakers will provide information on USDA’s Dairy Margin Coverage and Pandemic Market Volatility Assistance Program.

Dairy Margin Coverage is the main Farm Bill risk-management program for dairy farmers.

The market volatility program is set to pay dairy farmers for 80% of the difference per month based on an annual production cap of 5 million pounds of milk marketed and on fluid milk sales for the second half of 2020.

Panelists will provide updates on the timeline for this program and answer farmers’ questions about expected relief payments for dairy producers.

The speakers will be Erin Taylor of the USDA Agricultural Marketing Service; Cynthia Walters, USDA’s Pennsylvania dairy program director; and Zach Myers, risk education manager at the Center for Dairy Excellence.

To ensure as many questions can be addressed as possible, questions must be submitted in advance. To submit a question, text or call 717-585-0766, or email zmyers@centerfordairyexcellence.org.

To join the 12:30-1:30 p.m. call, dial 978-990-5000 and enter access code 553371, followed by the # sign, when prompted.

The center will also host its monthly Protecting Your Profits Call at noon Wednesday, Dec. 22.

Myers will review market data, and discuss decision making for Dairy Margin Coverage and Dairy Revenue Protection. The call will last about 15 minutes.

The webinar will go live at noon at centerfordairyexcellence.org/DecemberPYP.

It will also be livestreamed on the center’s Facebook and YouTube pages.

To follow via phone, dial in at noon to 1-646-558-8656, and use meeting ID 848 3416 1708 and passcode 474057.

The program will be uploaded as a podcast afterward at centerfordairyexcellence.org/pyp.
