The summertime is finally here and that means it is time to dust off the boots and head to the local fair! Last year was a trying time for agriculture, and our community missed out on the chance to support each other in person. This summer, it is all about showing up!
Whether you are participating in showing your livestock or are bringing the grandkids for the first time, there is something for everyone.
Growing up in the ag community, I know the importance of showing up and being there for each other. I’d often ride with my father when he volunteered to drive the shuttle at the Delaware State Fair for his Ruritan club. We would grab a funnel cake and head to look at the new equipment or see a concert in the fair after his shift. Becoming a new mom this fall, I cannot wait to bring my daughter to the fair next year to see the animals and start our own family traditions.
Farm Credit’s values are no different. We support our rural communities and actively participate in local fairs by sponsoring, purchasing livestock animals, and even having our own Farm Credit Day at some fairs to show our appreciation to our members. Visit mafc.com/appreciation to learn more and if you’re a Farm Credit member, keep an eye out for a postcard this summer!
In order to further show support to the agriculture community, Farm Credit is hosting a virtual showcase again this year for 4-H and FFA youths to share their summer fair projects. Students have the opportunity to enter their livestock, dairy, horse, poultry or rabbit projects. The showcase opens on July 15 to youths ages 8-18 who reside in our footprint. This is another outlet for the younger generation to show off their hard work and for the community to show up to support them! Head to mafc.com/showcase for more information.
If you are ready to build your dream farm operation and need a lender who will show up for you through the cyclical nature of the ag industry, give Farm Credit a call at 888-339-3334.
