A full-day workshop on CBD hemp production will be held Jan. 27 at Penn State Harrisburg, 777 W. Harrisburg Pike, Middletown.

CBD is a chemical compound naturally occurring in hemp with reputed health benefits. Hemp grown for fiber and seeds is managed like a field crop, while CBD hemp is generally grown like a horticultural crop.

Topics include propagation, management, harvesting, marketing and contracting. A discounted price of $125 is available through Jan. 2.

The training is a pre-conference session of the Mid-Atlantic Fruit and Vegetable Convention, which will be held Jan. 28-30 at the Hershey Lodge.

Registration for the convention is a separate cost.
