Corn in southeastern part of Pennsylvania is at 150-200 bushels per acre, and soybeans have been at 50-60 bushels per acre, compared to 2019 when he harvested 70 bushels an acre of soybeans and 175 to 200 bushels an acre of corn.

When Norman Reifsnyder was born, agriculture as we know it today looked a lot different. When he turns 99 on Aug. 25, he’ll have spent more time working in the industry than most people have been alive.

From all the hours I spent at the two shows I went to, I didn’t hear a single complaint about wearing a mask. There was an overwhelming feeling of gratitude. The kids and families just seemed happy to be showing at the fair.

My version of classic Americana is green fields filled with corn, black and white Holsteins out in a pasture, the Blue Mountain to the north and blue skies above.
